I have been playing around with a cut file from SVG cuts which is a lovely layered bird. Putting it together was quite fiddly and I had one of those horrible moments where I dropped one of the tiny pieces and couldn’t find it again! In the end and after much frustration I finally got my bird put together and I was keen to pop him on the front of a card.
I thought he was perfect for the current challenge at House of Cards September Challenge
I was also inspired by the pretty colours that could be used as inspiration!
Here is my card…
For my background I used a woodgrain stamp and also a die cut and stamp from Papertrey Ink Super Succulents.
We have had terrible storms here so it has been tricky to sneak outside and get a photo in between the rain. It has been a long winter here and I can’t wait for Spring to make her late entrance!
Thanks so much for visiting. I very much appreciate all your kind comments. Em
I was so excited to be the guest stamper at the Color Throwdown #412 this week. Just to add to the excitement the place where I live has been struck by a major storm today that has seen the whole State lose power. We ate a cold dinner by candlelight and have been so grateful to finally have the power restored late this evening and I can access the internet again to put up this post!
Anyhow the colors for this week’s challenge are so bright and fun…
I decide that this challenge was the perfect opportunity to use one of my Clearly Besotted Stamp sets for the very first time.
Here is my card…
I colored my fox using Copic Markers and also used a circle die cut from Papertrey Ink and some leaves from a Simon Says Stamp set. My sentiment is also from Clearly Besotted.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog I really do appreciate it!
This September PTI Blog hop is the first time I have participated. Actually I have made a card before for one of these and completely muddled up my times and missed out. Clearly time conversion isn’t my thing!
The Mood Board for this challenge was this beautiful photo…
This was such a beautiful colour scheme to work with. I love all the natural tones. Here is my card…
I’ve pulled out my much loved Tropics stamp set again and used my Misti to create some multi-tone leaves for my centre panel. I’ve also used a die frame from PTI Shakers collection and the sentiment is from Winter Woods.
Thanks so much for looking! I can’t wait to sit down later and check out everyone’s beautiful creations! Em
When I saw the newest challenge at Color Throwdown #411 I was inspired to play around with vellum and alcohol inks to see if I could create a unique background using this week’s colour combo. I basically dropped the ink straight on to the taped down vellum and it blended in to some beautiful tones. It was so easy and I just love the look of it.
To finish my card off I added a heat embossed garden scene and a black die cut frame. I really wanted to keep it very simple so that my background was the feature of the card.
I am entering my card in to the following challenges:
Color Throwdown #411
Casology Week 216 Frame
Thanks so much for looking! I hope you like my inky creation. Em
I don’t make a lot of masculine cards as I guess I am mainly drawn to more feminine colours however this week Betsy has done a video for Make It Monday #261 using florals on a masculine card. This was by request from the Papertrey Ink forums so clearly I am not alone in finding that making cards for men is tricky!
Here is what I came up with…
To create my card I used stamps from Papertrey Ink Tropics and also from Super Succulents. I trimmed down the succulents stamp to fit the bottom of my card as I felt it needed a pop of colour but not too much. I also used some mesh material at the back to give the card a little more interest with an unusual texture.
I can’t say that I feel overly confident with this card but Betsy has some great tips in her video which certainly helped. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s creations and getting some idea.
Have a great day! Em
My cute little bird stamps from Clearly Besotted have finally arrived. I had them in my cart last month and they sold out before I got the payment done. I’ve been stalking their site just waiting for them to come back into stock.
For my card I have based the design around the current sketch at Case This Sketch #190.
And here is my card featuring those adorable birds…
I kept the card very clean and simple with just some Copic colouring.
Thanks for looking! Em
The current challenge at the Color Throwdown #410 is this group of colours…
I decided to create my card using some flower stamps from Altenew Golden Garden stamp set that I coloured with Zig Markers in some peach tones.
I also used my Zig Markers and some water to create an aqua watercolour background for my card and used a die from Papertrey Ink in white to frame it. I’ve also heat embossed a sentiment from Papertrey Ink that is heat embossed and mounted on foam for some dimension and used some glass beads to look like water droplets.
Thanks for looking! Em
I made another card this week for the Freshly Made Sketches #254 challenge.
I decided this challenge would be perfect for using up some scrap strips of pattern paper. I always try to keep any off cuts so as to not be wasteful however I seem to accumulate a lot of pieces but not use them.
Here is my take on the sketch…
I really liked the boldness of the stripes with the subtleness of the grey woodgrain paper. I thought it needed a real pop of colour though so I incorporated a hot pink glitter circle with vellum inlay and bright flowers from Simon Says stamp which I’ve used my Zig Markers on.
Thanks so much for looking! Em
There has been so much amazing inspiration over at Papertrey Ink in the lead up to another spectacular release. I can’t believe I am already seeing so much Christmas stuff! For the September Create Along With Us Challenge I had a hard time choosing a favourite to try but Ashley Newell’s card really stood out to me…
I really loved the beautiful background Ashley has created with her green foliage in lots of different tones and the circle with the Inspired Sentiment works perfectly to fit in amongst the greenery.
This is my take using the Tropics stamp set and the Inspired Faith set. I also couldn’t resist putting some green glitter paper on my circle just to add my own touch to the design.
Thanks for looking! Em
I’m loving the colours over at the Color Throwdown #409 Challenge. I would love to re-decorate my lounge room with this combination of colours! It is so bright and fun.
I went with some stamps from Simon Says Stamp for my flowers coloured in with Zig Markers. I love the sentiment which is from Altenew as it is a great one for sending to someone for no occasion other than to tell them you care.
I left my background nice and simple as I wanted my flowers to be the star.
Thanks for stopping to look! Em
