Over at CAS Colours & Sketches challenge #208 we are having a double challenge. Basically you need to use the colour and the sketch to create your card. So therefore it is double the challenge!
As soon as I saw the orange tones I knew one of my cute fox stamps from Clearly Besotted would be just perfect.
I’ve coloured my fox with Copic markers and adhered him on to some white and sage green patterned paper. I’ve adhered clear vellum to the base of my white card front which I embossed with my Cuttlebug. I absolutely love the look of embossed vellum and the subtleness and texture it can bring to a CAS card. My sentiment is a die and stamp set from Papertrey Ink Tropics set which is simply embossed in white and adhered with foam tape for some dimension.
I hope you are able to come and join in the fun of a double challenge this week at CAS Colours & Sketches. Thanks so much for visiting! Em
I’m back again with a card for the Freshly Made Sketches 272 challenge. I’m quite impressed that I have actually had the time to create anything as I have been so busy getting everything ready for the new school year. I spent the whole of yesterday afternoon covering books and I won’t even get started on the number of pens, pencils, crayons, textas etc I have had to name.
Anyway I finally got some relaxation time to play with this sketch…
The circles immediately reminded me of balloons so I decided to use a couple of MFT stamps for my creation.
I stamped my bear who had a single balloon and then used my Misti to position and mask my bear so I could stamps some other balloons behind the bear. The Misti really helped to make sure I was able to get the balloon strings positioned in his hands and only use the parts of the stamp I wanted.
I used Copic Markers for my colouring and some washi tape for the striped strip on either side of the bear. Then I simply stamped my sentiment and mounted it on foam tape for dimension.
Thanks for looking! Em
The Card Concept has a simply beautiful picture for inspiration. Maybe it is because I am coming to the end of 6 weeks of school holidays and am completely exhausted but the bedroom looks amazing. I can just imagine laying in that room relaxing in the peace and quiet!
I simply love the black and white pictures on the walls and was inspired to cut out a ladies head image using my Silhouette machine. I’ve attached a soft white feather and hot pink flower to her bonnet. I also loved the look of that bedside table and decided to use an embossing folder that had a similar appearance for my background. I’ve then used my Garden Gild cover plate from Papertrey Ink to die cut some orange flowers similar to the print on one of the cushions. I’ve just used a couple of sections of the die to add to my corners below the sentiment. My sentiment is from Altenew.
I used a pink die cut circle and the added a circle of vellum that was slightly smaller and stuck down my lady to this. She is quite dimensional so this was a tricky card to photograph as the background kept being out of focus.
This is a lot more cluttered than my usual CAS style cards but I am loving playing with having dimension and using tactile objects like the feather to add more interest to my cards. I guess I would describe the style as clean and layered.
I hope you are all having a great day! Em x
It is sketch week again over at CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #207 and here is the sketch for this week…
I’ve spent the last few weeks tidying up my craft room. It has been a massive job but I have come across lots of items that I bought, put away and completely forgot about. Discovering unopened items I can’t even remember buying is great! It is like shopping for free! One of these things was lots of clear acetate so I decided to incorporate it in to the design of my card…
I’ve used some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spray and spritzed some white paper, dried this off and die cut it using a cover-plate from Papertrey Ink that came in the Garden Gild kit.I’ve then tucked this under my black cardstock and adhered white cardstock to the back so that when you open the card you can’t see all the messy adhesive tape. Then I trimmed the front off a white card base and left a thin strip to adhere my panel down one side.
This was a bit tricky to photograph but hopefully you can see the wave shape is clear so you can see to the inside of the card.
Thanks for looking. I hope to see lots of great entires this week over at CAS Colours & Sketches and hope you will in on this fun challenge. Em
Yesterday I made a card using the latest sketch at Cas(e) This Sketch Challenge #205. We are still on school holidays here so I’m itching to create but never seem to have the time. Yesterday I set up a craft table so we could all create together.
I went ultra CAS with lots of blank space and a simple die cut from Papertrey Ink Garden Gild that I cut down to match the shape of the corner. I even used a rub-on for my sentiment which I haven’t done in so long!!!
Thanks for taking the time to come visit my blog! Em x
Well I am finally getting some time in my craft room although my re-modelling is still not complete. I have missed creating and find it relaxes me so I am working in amongst the mess as best as possible. One of the cards I got to create yesterday was for Freshly Made Sketches 271.
After some experimentation I decided to flip the sketch (I hope that’s ok!) but I really felt my card worked better landscape.
I love the colours of the pattern paper and combined that with a Copic coloured butterfly from Altenew. My sentiment is from a Clearly Besotted set and embossed in white. The little spears of pearls were something I came across when I was cleaning up my craft area. I have no idea where they came from but I thought they were so pretty! I then added a strip of glitter patter vellum. I’ve had this vellum for ages and I am nearly out. It is one of those items I wish I had bought a ton of because I love it so much.
Thanks so for looking! Em x
Over at The Paper Players Challenge 327 it is a color challenge…
I love the combination of black, white and bright green so I experimented with some leaf stamps from Simon Says Stamp and coloured with Zig Markers to come up with this card…
I’ve also used my Cuttlebug to emboss some white card and used a circle of vellum just to add some texture and interest to the card.
Thanks for stopping to take a peak! Em
I’m back with a card I made for CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #206 which is a great combination of bright colours. I know a lot of you are experiencing cold weather so this colour combination should hopefully brighten up your day! Here in Australia we’ve had quite a few 40 degrees celcius (about 104 in fahrenheit) days and according to the weather forecast we are in for quite a few more.
It is still school summer holidays here so I am literally chasing my kids non-stop and we are going through another stage of we can’t stand to be near each other but we can’t leave each other alone! It was nice to leave my darling husband to look after the kids whilst I snuck downstairs all alone in the peace and quiet to create my card for this challenge.
For my card I used this stamp set from Altenew for the very first time. It is called Simple Flowers and has some lovely bold and modern looking floral images. My sentiment is from the same set and it was such a nice quick and easy card to whip up. I’m really loving the bright and bold colour combination.
I can’t wait to check out all the entries and hope you will join in with the challenge this week! Em
This week I was inspired by the very pretty moodboard over at The Card Concept Challenge #64 which is very accurately called pretty things!
I was inspired by the vase of flowers, the gold dots and the pink, black and white tones and as you can see I have gone for a very clean and simple style!
My stamp is from Altenew and I have kept the card nice and simple with just foam tape for dimension. A lot of my craft supplies are in boxes at the moment as I continue my craft room renovation. I am excited about the transformation and am looking forward to my room not resembling a disaster zone like it does right now. I think my husband is over building Ikea flat-packs for me!
Thanks for coming to visit my blog. Em
It’s time for another sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #205 – the first sketch for 2017! I really love this sketch it really made me think about lots of different possibilities.
In the end I decided to use the Birch Land stamps from Altenew to create branches of blossom cascading down the card. I’ve had this stamp set for ages but really haven’t used it much. I think I was a little intimidated that I would have to get the stamping of the blossom perfect for it to work but I soon learn’t a very random approach works just fine. In fact this is such a fun set to work with.
Here is my card…
My sentiment is from Papertrey Ink It’s The Thought and is embossed in fine white embossing powder. I’ve mounted the card on a base of gold paper that has a matte finish.
I hope you will be inspired by this great sketch and join us over at CAS Colours & Sketches with your own creations. Have a great week! Em
