Well it has been a day for colouring in cats. When I saw the challenge at Just Add Ink Challenge #358 for this week I thought I could incorporate some faux stitching in to my card using some Lawn Fawn dies. I have pulled out the sewing machine a few times and attempted to stitch on my cards but I must admit my skills are very limited. Sewing is on my list of things to actually learn how to do but I still have horrible memories of making a pair of boxer shorts back in high school that didn’t quite end up looking like boxer shorts. Someday I will have to find a very patient teacher. So for now I will stick to the faux stitching.
How cute is this chubby little cat?! I’m so pleased I finally got my hands on this super stamp set from MFT! I’ve simply coloured him with Copic Markers. For my stitching I positioned my strips of stitching dies where I wanted them so the sentiment would fit and then stuck them with a little washi tape before running them through my Cuttlebug.
Thanks for visiting today. Em x
This cute cat stamp set from MFT is one that I have wanted for ages but it seemed each time I went to pop it in my cart to purchase it was sold out! Finally though this week it arrived and although I consider myself more of a dog person than a cat person I must say these cat stamps are some of the cutest animal stamps in my growing collection. I decided for my first card with the set to create something to fit with the current challenge at Freshly Made Sketches #286.
Here is my card…
I have used one of my dies from Lawn Fawn to create a stitched curve to follow the shape of the circle and some grey washi tape as a strip behind it. The cats are simply coloured with Copic Markers popped up with some foam tape.
Thank meow for visiting today! Em
It’t time for a new colour challenge over at the CAS Colours and Sketches Challenge and during the next couple of months the design team will each be taking a turn at hosting. This week Samantha is bringing us this gorgeous trio of colours.
For my card I have used one of my Hero Art ladies and done some very simple colouring using the colours. I think the colours make for a very stylish and colourful outfit…
I hope to see lots of wonderful creation this week and hope you will join in over at CAS Colours and Sketches. Em
It is time for another sketch challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches and for this week’s challenge I’ve decided to go for a pastel toned card using stamps from the My Monthly Hero Kit again! I even got to use the pale duck egg blue Nuvo drops that came with the kit.
Here is the sketch for this week…
And here is my card…
Once again I can’t wait to see all your creations this week over at the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge and hope you will join in the fun and enter.
Have a great week! Em
It’s still school holidays here and I am struggling to find fun indoor activities for them to do as it has been quite rainy. I came across this Jennifer McGuire Rainbow Scrap Backgrounds Video and thought sticking the strips down to make our own custom backgrounds would be fun for the kids and also allow me some creative time too.
I made a background using pastel colours to fit in with the current challenge at Scrapbook Boutique April Inspiration.
The best part is that these were all this scrap pieces that were destined for the recycling bin! Instead they are now a cute card background.
I finished my card off with a strip of green ribbon, a lawn fawn circle and the ultra cute bear from MFT stamps. I’ve mounted him up on lots of foam tape so he really jumps out at you.
Thanks for stopping to look. I’m headed off now to make a special Anzac Day lunch for the family. Have a great day! Em
It is time for another colour challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches.
These were a really unusual combination of colours for me to work with and certainly had me thinking once again. In the end I decided on this cute stamp set from MFT and a nice playful sentiment from the set.
These tones had me creating quite a masculine card so I will be super keen to see what creations we have in the link up this week. I hope you can get some crafting time this week and will join in at CAS Cards and Sketches. Em x
I was really excited to see the sketch at Case This Sketch this week. It really had me thinking of a creative way to emulate the image.
Here is what I came up with…
Any excuse to use these new stamps again!!!
I layered the stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn underneath in a deep red for a pop of bright colour. I went with some simple Copic marker colouring using just the outlines as a guide. I love that sketchy look it reminds me of old fashion design sketches I have seen.
Actually it is school holidays here so I am planning on making some of these ladies for my daughter to use like the old paper dolls I used to have as a kid. She is super excited to colour and decorate them using all my craft supplies!!! I appears what is old is now new again and some toys like paper dolls are indeed timeless!
Thanks for stopping to visit today! Em
