I’m Here For You

For the month of March Fiona is a our host over at the CAS Colours and Sketches Blog. This week she has designed a sketch for us to play along with…

I had some brand new Altenew stamps arrive this week so I was super excited to test them out with this sketch! In fact I made two similar cards just so I could play around with some different colour combinations with my birds!

Birdie red

This one uses some new ink colours from Altenew for the bird from their new Tea Party ink set!

Then I decided to create a green/blue bird using some other Altenew inks as well as a bright pink from the Tea Party set!

Triangles!

There hasn’t been much cardmaking happening at my house despite the fact that I have had a few new crafty items arrive. It is always frustrating to be itching to use a new product but not having the time.

I was fortunately able to have a quick play to create a CAS card to fit in with a couple of card challenges.Geometric card

I love these triangle dies from Altenew I can see so many possibilities. For this card I wanted to go bold and bright so I created some Ombre backgrounds using some Distress Oxide and adhered these to the front inside of my card to peak thru the triangles. I finished it off with a sentiment from the Altenew Birds of A Feather stamp set. I also added some bling with a few scattered sequins!

I’m entering my card in to the following challenges:

For my card I have used some of the February release Hero Arts items including a new feather die-cut and a sentiment from the My Monthly Hero Kit.

Dry Embossing

It has been a very quiet week for me as I am supposed to be resting until I get in to see a specialist next week for my back. I can’t stand having to take it easy and miss getting to craft and do normal things. It has been a good time though to reflect on all the things I am grateful for and the things I look forward to in life. I’ve also discovered I hate day time tv!

I had an idea for the latest challenge at Simply Less Is More where the theme is dry embossing. I wan’t sure I would get to make it though but I snuck down to my craft room today and quickly whipped it up.

For my dry embossing I used a very old embossing folder (I can’t even remember where I got it from) and embossed a panel. I finished it off with some Nuvo drops to the centres of all the flowers for a pop of colour against all the white.
