Wonderful Poodle!

It is time for another sketch challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches and for this week’s challenge I’ve decided to go for a pastel toned card using stamps from the My Monthly Hero Kit again! I even got to use the pale duck egg blue Nuvo drops that came with the kit.

Here is the sketch for this week…

And here is my card…

Once again I can’t wait to see all your creations this week over at the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge and hope you will join in the fun and enter.

Have a great week! Em

Beary Scrappy

It’s still school holidays here and I am struggling to find fun indoor activities for them to do as it has been quite rainy. I came across this Jennifer McGuire Rainbow Scrap Backgrounds Video and thought sticking the strips down to make our own custom backgrounds would be fun for the kids and also allow me some creative time too.

I made a background using pastel colours to fit in with the current challenge at Scrapbook Boutique April Inspiration.

April

The best part is that these were all this scrap pieces that were destined for the recycling bin! Instead they are now a cute card background.

Beary special card

I finished my card off with a strip of green ribbon, a lawn fawn circle and the ultra cute bear from MFT stamps. I’ve mounted him up on lots of foam tape so he really jumps out at you.

Thanks for stopping to look. I’m headed off now to make a special Anzac Day lunch for the family. Have a great day! Em

Sushi With You

It is time for another colour challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches.

These were a really unusual combination of colours for me to work with and certainly had me thinking once again. In the end I decided on this cute stamp set from MFT and a nice playful sentiment from the set.

Panda Sushi card

These tones had me creating quite a masculine card so I will be super keen to see what creations we have in the link up this week. I hope you can get some crafting time this week and will join in at CAS Cards and Sketches. Em x

Just Because Ladies!

I was really excited to see the sketch at Case This Sketch this week. It really had me thinking of a creative way to emulate the image.

Here is what I came up with…

Dresses card

Any excuse to use these new stamps again!!!

I layered the stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn underneath in a deep red for a pop of bright colour. I went with some simple Copic marker colouring using just the outlines as a guide. I love that sketchy look it reminds me of old fashion design sketches I have seen.

Actually it is school holidays here so I am planning on making some of these ladies for my daughter to use like the old paper dolls I used to have as a kid. She is super excited to colour and decorate them using all my craft supplies!!! I appears what is old is now new again and some toys like paper dolls are indeed timeless!

The Pink Poodle!

One of the stamps with matching die from the latest My Monthly Hero Kit is this ridiculously cute poodle. It reminds me of the cute 1950’s poodle skirts. I decided to go for a pink and black polka dot to fit with this theme and also used a black circle that I though reminded me of an old record.

Poodle card

I liked the look of only highlighting the edges of the poodle in pink for a super quick and easy hint of colour. As I had the matching die I was able to easily cut out the poodle and mount it with foam tape for dimension. This was a super easy card to make and I’m thinking something like this would be great for invitations for a 1950’s themed party!

I’m entering my card in to the challenge over at Just Add Ink Challenge #355 which used this sketch…

The Best!

As only other crafty people will know there is something wonderful about getting a new product and creating. I am so in love with the beautiful new set from Hero Arts Monthly kit. As soon as I saw the sneak peeks for the kit I was in love but now that I actually have created with this stamp set I am delirious! So I apologise in advance for the fact that you will probably get sick of seeing this stamp set featured in my latest creations!

I decided to enter this card in to the following challenges:

Fireworks!

Our family is enjoying a nice quiet Easter. School finished up on Thursday so we have two weeks off. I probably won’t get much crafting done as we are hoping to enjoy the last of the nice weather before winter kicks in.

I decided to make a nice and simple card for the current challenge at Muse Challenge #211. This is the card that we had to work from for inspiration…tracey_Muse#211

And here is my card…

Celebrate today card 2

The bursts of colour remind me of fireworks and are from a really old set from Kazazz that I had forgotten I even had! According to my husband once you start to forget what stamps you have then perhaps you have too many stamps! I think that is crazy. The more stamps the better!!! Hopefully he won’t be home when my large order from Simon Says Stamp arrives later this week.

I’ve used a Wink of Stella pen to add some sparkle to my fireworks and added my die cut sentiment which is from a Papetrey Ink kit.

Thanks for looking. I hope you are all having a wonderful Easter break! Em x

Seahorsing Around!

Well it seems April is just flying past and it is already time for a brand new challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. This week it is time for a brand new sketch!

As soon as I saw this sketch I had an idea of what I wanted to do with it! I’ve been waiting for a chance to use some of the many seahorses that I stamped when I recently bought the Hero Arts layered seahorse stamp set. I really find these layered stamps addictive as there are so many unique results you can achieve just by varying the ink you use.

Seahorse card

For my background I have done a simple watercolour using Zig Markers. They blend so easily so this was super quick to create. I’ve added a strip of patterned paper and also some lattice type thread that I kept off some packaging. It has some really pretty golden tones to the threads which were had to photograph but depending on how you hold the card they really shimmer. They reminded me of the ocean and some sort of sea grass. I really love being able to add something tactile to a simple card just to give it something extra.

This was such a fun sketch to work with and has so many possibilities. I can’t wait to see lots of creations this week at CAS Colours & Sketches and hope you will join in the fun! Em

Enjoy The Ride

Well it is time for another colour challenge this week at CAS Colours & Sketches. This week we have what I would call a very spring themed group of colours to play with!

For this challenge I decided to break out a brand new stamp set from Lawn Fawn!

Bike ride card

I thought the little bike stamp was super sweet and would work well for these colours and I really love the look of grey with purple and yellow!

I can’t wait to see all your gorgeous creations this week and look forward to you hopefully joining in the challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches this week! Em
