Cards In Envy Wedding Challenge

Over at the Cards In Envy Challenge you need to make a  wedding or anniversary card. I haven’t made a wedding card in ages so it was good to do something different. I wanted to make something modern looking and not too feminine so it suits both the bride and groom.

All you need is card

My bride and groom are little stickers from a set I have had stashed away for so long that I don’t even know when or where I bought them. They are so sweet with some pretty silver glitter detail on them plus the brides veil has a hint of pink glitter which is sort of hard to see in the picture. I mounted them on a piece of vellum and some pale grey striped card stock. I also included an angled strip along the bottom corner of silver glitter paper to match my happy little couple. My black circle is also glitter card-stock and the centre is a vellum circle stamped with a sentiment from Papertrey Ink Super Succulents and embossed with black powder to make it nice and glossy. If you look closely the circle is quite transparent and you can see all the other layers underneath.

Now I just have to wait until someone gets married so I can send it to them!

CAS(E) this Sketch!

Yesterday I decided to make a card based upon the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch #178 .

CTS_178

I’ve been going in to my stash of homemade cards and I noticed that I am lacking sympathy cards. Sadly it has been one of those years where quite a few have had to be sent and I always like to have this sort of thing on hand so I can post it straight away. I also wanted to create a modern yet elegant looking sympathy card and something a little outside of what I would normally make.

Sympathy card

I’ve used flowers stamps from Simon Says Stamp and coloured with my Zig Markers. I am so in love with these flower stamps and they stamp so beautifully. I also used a woodgrain stamps for my reverse “L” shaped timber. I’ve cut some black and gold glitter paper to form 2 circles the black being underneath and the gold is on top with just a little dimension so that it will still fit in an envelope! My sentiment is from Altenew.

Curtain Call Tasty Tropics

The Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge is Tasty Tropics.

tasty tropics

The picture inspired me to use some cute little cocktail type glass stamps from Lawn Fawn and lots of tropical type colours.

Blended card

Given how cold and wet it is here I also had lots of fun day dreaming as I created about being in a nice tropical oasis sipping a cocktail and being warm! The bright and bold colours help cheer me up as I really hate the cold and we’ve had so much  rain this week that the backyard even flooded. I’m super jealous seeing lots of people on the other side of the world enjoy summer whilst it is winter here in Australia. I can’t wait until it is our turn to have summer again!

You’re Stinkin’ Cute!

I absolutely love the cute little skunk that Lawn Fawn recently released as a mini stamp set. I thought he was perfect for the Scrapbook Boutique June 2016 Challenge which uses this collection of black and white images as inspiration this month.

Just when I thought the skunk couldn’t be any cuter  I saw the AAA Cards Game #67 Challenge –  Googley Eyes and I thought hey why not add googley eyes too. So I got to creating and came up with this card…

Skunk card

This little skunk seriously is so stinkin cute! Or as my daughter put it he is “cuteness overload.” My card is nice and simple with Zig Marker colouring for the skunk and some foam tape to pop him on some black and white circles.

Thanks for looking I hope you think he is cute too! Em

PTI Make It Monday #253

The Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge is hosted by Betsy this week and she uses a technique called Reverse Stencilling which I’ve never thought to do before! My first attempt was a disaster. I think I must have used too much water because it blended in to one big horrible mess. I’m not completely happy with the second attempt but I thought I would just see how it worked on my card.

Amazing pot plant card 2

I finished it off with some dies and stamps from Super Succulents.

Butterflies!

There are a few butterfly challenges at the moment and I must admit I don’t have a lot of butterfly stamps. My Silhouette Machine has been a bit forgotten lately so I thought I would get creative and put together a panel of cute little butterflies by just repeating the same image over and over. I then used some sprays and inks and made my own patterned paper with lots of spatters and splodges. I decided to cut the butterflies out of the paper with my machine and stick the panel straight on to a black card base. It is very simple and so quick to make but I really liked the unique look.

Butter flies card

I was inspired by the card over at the Muse Challenge #170 this week with all the lovely butterflies, tones of orange and yellow plus the fly/flight quote that was on the card.

I’m also entering my card in to the challenge over at CAS on Sunday Challenge #86 Butterflies.

Thanks for looking and for your kind comments and feedback – they really make my day!  Em

Mermaids from Lawn Fawn!

When I saw the new mermaid stamps from Lawn Fawn I was instantly in love! I’ve always loved mermaids and these new stamps are just too cute!  I have been stalking the letterbox just waiting for them to arrive. My kids thought I was pretty strange when I got home from school pick up and bolted to the letterbox each day to check if they had arrived.

Mermaid card copy

My first card I have made with the stamps is nice and simple I really wanted my mermaid to be the star of the card! I used Zig Marker and a waterbrush pen to make an ocean and also coloured my mermaid and rock in with the Zigs. I adhered a circle cut out over the ocean I had created and used foam so that it sits up from the back of the card.

I’m entering my little mermaid in to the following challenges:

Masculine Fungi!

I always struggle with my masculine cards. The temptation to add girly elements is always there but when I saw this cute stamp set from Poppy Stamps called No Truffle At All I thought it would be perfect to create some boyish cards. I love the simple stamps and sentiments and it lends itself so well to CAS style cards!

Fungi card

I used a woodgrain stamp and some grey ink from Altenew to create a wood panel background and then coloured with Zigs and blended the colours with a water brush. I then stamped and heat embossed my sentiment.

I’m entering my card in to the following challenges:
